I've got a 2005 F250 with 6.0 with 172,000 plus miles on it. Just replaced the FCIM 2 days ago, and has ran great probably better than it ever has. Problem started this evening of being really sluggish when pulling out. It acts like no power, black smoke comes out then it takes off and runs fine. Idles fine also
Anything to read live data? Turbo may be sticking. To set the P0299 code for low boost, it needs to be low for more than 5 seconds and more than 4psi below what it wanted. WHY live data is good to see.
WatsonR I checked the MAP sensor on the intake...clean all the way through. Can't get to the EBP sensor yet. Will get to it Friday. Don't know if any codes are present, I have no way of scanning. Will have to get one of my friends up here and scan it for me.
It's probably sticking vanes in the turbo. You can clean it, get a kit and watch a video. AND I'd spend a couple bucks on a gauge, Torque Pro of Android or Scan Gauge 2 to watch live data.
Mine did the same thing about a month ago it was the ebp sensor
I unhooked the EBP and cranked right up, took for a spin and ran really well. Still lacking some turbo boost. Got home after driving and after turning it off it would not start back. Tried a couple of times and after a few tries it fired back up. Then it would idle eradically and smoothed out. I just parked it.
Probably time to get a live data reading device. You need to read EBP, BARO and MAP, KOEO. and then again at idle.
Torque Pro with ELM327 devise or
Scan Gauge2. Search here, plenty of reading and good info on how to set it up and coupon code for Advance Auto.
Did you get the EBP cleaned? That's my bet also, but clean it first and the tube feeding it.
Nope unhooked it all together. I remembered a few years ago when I was doing upgrades, the EBP was unplugged then by previous owner and it ran great. So I just unplugged it again. I'll take it off and clean and check in a few days.

Ok went out to move it so to work on it better. Cranked right up moved about 40 feet....died! Took forever to get cranked back. Thought the batteries were dying drug down so low. Got it cranked again and the engine revved up and down without me touching the fuel pedal a couple of times and was fine. Checked the batteries both 12 plus on voltage not cranked and both when cranked where over 13 volts.
You can clean the EBPS and tube all you want, but the issue is sometimes the fitting at the exhaust manifold.
-Remove the sensor
-Remove the tube
-Clear the fitting at the exhaust manifold and reinstall.
With regards to the MAP nipple on the intake manifold.
The hose needs to be removed from the Manifold and the nipple must be cleared using a wire hanger or straw from a can of WD-40. (don't spray anything into the intake manifold)
