My middle seat was badly worn and needed reupholstered. It's in the garage. At some point I may put it back in and take the single out, but for now this is working rather well.
Yeah I agree, Now you have a mobile romp-a- room! I like the cpts chairs in that two more adults can sit in the second row in style, and our two kids in the third row in car seats, planning on a lot of skiing this winter, and a few longer road trips to Colorado, everybody will be happy! Hope to be picking yup my rig this week. ....
My 04 has quad captains chairs, and my 2 kids love it. Personally I think it's ideal for my family size. My 01 has bench, but I took the 60 out and left the 40 in, so there's a wide open area.
Some cheap rubber matting from home depot cut to fit, and it looks like this:
Also, basically thst looks like a cpts chair to me ( only difference being the arm rest) I guess if I wanted a bench for some reason, I could find the 60 portion of the 60/40 split and be in business, no?
I'm sure I'm one of the few that prefers the bench. My primary excursion use is for getaways/vacations, I drive all night wife sleeps in 2nd row daughter in 3rd... I don't let anyone else ride in my excursion so that's that.
Bench seat guy here too, it's not uncommon for us to head off on a camping trip with 6 to 8 adults onboard, sometimes (only sometimes though....) I wish we could seat 9 for some of the running around we do at our destinations.

My wife sits in the co-pilot's seat, my eldest prefers the single middle seat, as it reclines, and my youngest lays across the 3rd row to sleep. In the open space I can put a cooler, bench, and table for cold cuts and making sandwiches. My wife crawls back to put the stuff together, distribute food, and then come back. On my list is tray tables, for the second and third rows on the passenger sides. Seeing them on planes, they shouldn't be to hard to make.

I understand Jay, we are a little older and have a different need for comfort. My daughter is 23 lol we don't crawl anymore
We worry about things like circulation now don't worry you will understand in about 20 years.

Replace front center console with a jump seat? The threaded bosses are already there for it to mount...
Has anyone had any experience or any ideas about putting a 50/50 or 60/40 bench seat into the third row on an excursion? Don't necessarily need the whole thing to split down the 50/50 or 60/40 but at least the backrests so I could have some additional cargo length is needed while still maintaining a seat back there. I'm wondering if any of the other vehicles like expeditions, explorers, escapes or any of the other Ford wagon type vehicles like the freestyle or the flex might have seats that would fit back in the third row and give a split bench back there. Any thoughts?
