Question about seating

I am still new and looking for my first X, but I have noticed that some come with captain's chairs as second row seating and some with a bench seat in the second row. Why is this?

The second row captains chairs were an option that was offered. On my 03 ex, I have the 60/40 spilt bench seat . The creatures who dwell in the rear enjoy the arm rest and the drink holders. After all why should they have to place their drink in the center console, they might have to reach for it.

Da quad cpt's chairs are Da Kine Bra! Really though, just another option on the list of many options available, and one of my favorites! In fact, the rig I am looking at right now has the cpts chairs.

Your best bet would be to look for an Ex that was being parted out. You could also search out local junkyards, sorry auto recycling centers, to see if you could find them. New leather covers are available online to restore them to new. I don't know if you could find them new, but then again, anything is possible.

There have been a few posts about this same topic, I wouldnt limit your searches to the EX threads ony but in the super duty threads as well. Ultimately anything can fit if you want it to. I think i found a post the other day that someone had made some EXP rear captain seats fit and looked fairly easy if your 40/100% mechanically inclined and have the tools.

I want to do the same thing but im most likely going to replace all 3 rows with newer model seats and wrap them with Katzkin or LeatherSeats.com.

3rd row

A whilst back, in my searches for an Ex I came across a nice excursion somewhere in Texas, really nicely done truck that the owner somehow converted the 3rd row to cpts chairs as well. This was before I was ready tho pull the trigger just yet. Granted it limited you to only 6 passengers ( haaa limited to 6 people only) as it had 6 buckets, but it was cool as hell!

My 04 has quad captains chairs, and my 2 kids love it. Personally I think it's ideal for my family size. My 01 has bench, but I took the 60 out and left the 40 in, so there's a wide open area.

Some cheap rubber matting from home depot cut to fit, and it looks like this:

I thought about doing this only opposite of what you did. My two tall monsters sit in the back while my two smaller monsters sit in the middle. That little seat is almost always folded down anyways... Good idea!
