I am new to diesel power plants and recently purchased a 2005 F-250 which has the 6.0L Diesel. It has approximately 70K miles. I have been warned about the injectors, head gasket, and coolant issues. I am looking for some guidance on trying to stay ahead of any of these concerns. Where should I start and what products are out there, that Ford owners have tried and recommend? Any help would be appreciated.
stop by the 6.0 section here on FTE and read up. Remember to only use Motorcraft (Ford) filters.
Most of the issues caused by this motor are results of neglect and/or ignoring what she's telling you.
mainly though, just drive the damn thing. So many people hate on these motors and truth be told, I'd bet 75% of them have never driven...much less owned one. I absolutely loved my 6.0. Best truck I've ever owned!
