Hi guys im in the market for a used F-250 or 350 diesel in the 2005 to 2008 vintage and was wondering if there is any known issues with the 6.0 or the truck itself.looking for your input?thanks neal
My first question is why do you need (or want) a diesel engine? Do you plan on using the truck for heavy hauling or towing? How many miles per day or week do you plan to drive the truck? Are you mechanically inclined to do a lot of small maintenance repairs?
Well, it sounds like you need the diesel engine. I would read up as recommended by Fishin76. From what I've read, the early 6.0L had issues but were fixed later on in 2006 & 2007. The 6.0L (head studs) doesn't like aftermarket power programmers. The early 6.4L had issues with the radiators blowing. I'm not a diesel expert so my comments are limited.
If you're looking at the 6.0, you'll need to narrow your search to the 05 - 07 model years. The 2008 came out in 07, but it had the newer 6.4 motor.
Yes the 6.0 has a few issues depending on what your plans are for it. The good news is we've figured those issues out and can advise you on how to avoid them. Spend some time reading down in the 6.0 diesel section and you'll catch on pretty quick.
