Need a little help with some information on a bracket that I recently pulled from a 1973 Ford truck. I have seen the same exact bracket on a 1971. Both brackets were on a Y code engine (360). This may simply be a coincidence. The brackets appear to be very useful. "Mapco" is stamped on the bracket by where the York compressor was mounted. I wonder if this bracket was used on dealer installed ac units at some local California dealers or if it was made directly for Ford?
I've never heard of Mapco and this the Mapco idler pulley doesn't match the Ford types.

Notice the right & left idler pulleys (8678).

The diagram that you posted for the dealer installed item is very similar to the one I pulled. Was part number "2822" made by Ford or for Ford? Was there a Ford part number associated, such as a "c8TZ" number?
Bill, if you enter the word Mapco Pulley in the search field, you will find a post from you commented on some pulleys made by Mapco.
The above 2 photos reflect the brackets on the 2 different trucks I have seen this type of a/c bracket on. I am guessing that the item was made for Ford Dealers in the installation of the a/c
Bill, as usual, thanks for the information. I was wondering if there was a dealer installed unit for the 1973 generation Ford trucks. If so, do you know of a schematic/sketch and part numbers of the item like you posted for the 68-72 trucks.
Also, thanks for the 60,000 (or so) posts that you have provided to this community.

There were two different types of dealer installed A/C for 1973/79 F100/350's and 1978/79 Bronco's.
Neither type will work on 1968/72's, because the bezels are not 'hang-on' units, they fit into the dash.
Upper pic: Deluxe dealer installed A/C. The HUGE dash bezel sweeps across the entire right side of the dash, covering up the glove box. There's a separate 'hang-on' glove box bolted to the bottom of the dash.
Lower pic: Economy dealer installed A/C. Bezel fits into the dash to the left of the glove box.
Bill, thanks for the post. I was more interested in seeing the a/c bracket that may have been used for the 1973 generation trucks from the dealer to see if it was similar to the Mapco one that I posted. I would imagine that the 360/390 engine that was used in the 1973 generation trucks was the same as the one used in 1968-1972? How many years was the 360/390 engine in service?

1968/76 F100/350 360/390.
Pic: Notice that the idler pulley mounts on the compressor bracket. Pic is the same as 1968/72 (lower pic in post #2).
Sam. I don't think you necessarily have to find a truck with Ford dealer add on A/C to get that bracket. Any add-on A/C kits of whatever brand prolly had the same or very similar bracket used. And note, the bearing in those add on pulleys were the same as the front alternator bearing. Part number C9ZZ10094A.
