LCF Shifter
I just got my 2007 Ford LCF back from the dealership yesterday. It was in for top-end engine work and the engine seems to be purring along nicely, once again.
This truck has the 5-speed "Torqueshift" transmission and it was performing beautifully before the truck was towed in for repair. Although the transmission is still performing well, the actual gear shifter seems to be stiff to operate, where it was smooth as silk before the engine was pulled for repair. BTW, the transmission was left in the truck.
The shifter slides pretty well from Park to Reverse, and not bad from Reverse to Drive, but it progressively gets harder to slide as you move down through the gears. I haven't even taken it to its lowest point because I don't want to force anything.
My question is, is the shifter assembly attached to the transmission via a cable, or linkage that the Ford tech somehow installed, or adjusted incorrectly?
I know these trucks are a bit of an odd-ball and since there not common, perhaps the tech hooked it back up incorrectly. He's got over 25 years as a Ford diesel mechanic and said this was the first LCF he had pulled the engine on.
I've got an email into their service department, too, but I thought I'd check here, as well, since there are so many great people on here that have given me good advice in the past.
Thanks for the time. I look forward to hearing from anyone with any thoughts.
I rarely trust dealerships, especially the one I've been forced to deal with, but that's a story for another time and place.
Thank you for the reply, though.
