Just bought a truck a few days ago that has an Indy floor shifter installed to replace the column shifter. It was working fine untill tonight, I went to move the truck and the shifter wont budge its stuck in first gear.
What would cause this?
Those things are tricky, is the linkage bent or just out of adjustment. Personally I can't stand them, my 71 had one and it was installed incorrectly, so I had a reverse H pattern. I'm installing a C-6 in it now.
Sounds like it's stuck between gears? If you crawl under it, look at shift rods. Put the shifter handle in "neutral" and then re-align the tranny rods to neutral.
Once these things get some wear, you'll find that if you aren't very precise with the motion, you'll pop it into "nothing ness" and until you kinda figure out how to get it back into a gear you usually have to crawl under the truck to do it. Been there, done that about 20 yrs ago. Hated that shifter......
