83 351W Questions
I have a couple questions on the early 80's 351w w/ 2bbl carb
first off, can I change the lifters in the engine with out having to remove the heads? or should I remove them, what would be easier. I'd personally like not to remove them due to money concerns
second, I have been looking around and using the search on this forum, I was wondering if anyone knows the horsepower and torque ratings of the 83 351w w/ 2bbl carb, I'm thinking in the range of 170-180 hp, and 260-270 lb/ft of torque. I think that I might be a bit optimistic on that.

Don't know about the HP/TQ ratings but yes you can change the lifters without removing the heads.
All you need to do is remove the intake and rocker covers.
You need to loosen the rockers to remove the pushrods, then you can swap the lifters.
