Replaced Throttle Body

Just a note to mention that last Friday my fiancé was driving her'13 F150 with Ecoboost (73,000 mi) and heard a "loud" pop when accelerating then engine lost power. She called me so I had her restart it and all seemed fine- but drove 1/2 mile and same thing. Called Ford roadside service- got a tow within 30 min to dealer down road.

Turns out they had to replace the throttle body. Fortunately I have the Ford Extended Warranty thru 125,000. So a $100 deductible and all is now okay.
This was the second significant failure for the truck- first was a leaking A/C Evaporator which required pulling the entire dash.
I won't keep this truck beyond the extended warranty.

Unfortunately with mass produced products that have thousands of parts it's pretty much impossible for everything to come out perfect and last forever. The throttle body issue would be a little disconcerting as I wouldn't think it would be a part that had a premature failure rate. Sensors related to the throttle body, yes-but the actual throttle body, no. A leaking A/C evap unit leaking is not surprising though as with other vehicle forums I have been on this does happen(mostly Toyota forum experience). Hopefully the remainder of your miles are trouble free.

I too am looking at replacing the TB and throttle position sensors as I have had my truck shut off twice in the last month while driving it and one time it was difficult to start with an exaggerated starter cycle before it caught ignition. I have a X4 from SCT that is supposed to read the CEL codes, but this TB issue doesn't seem to throw any codes that the SCT tool can read, just lights up the wrench light and requires you to wait a few minutes before the engine will restart.

This truck has been my least favorite Ford truck of all Ive owned ('88 Ranger, '93 F150, '99 Ranger, '05 F150, '08 F350, '11 F150) due solely to the overly technical and sensitive nature of the modern equipment which seems to produce reliability issues when you use it... like a truck.

This is the last new truck I will ever buy, once im done replacing everything Ford limp- wristed it should be fine until the body rots out eventually. My next truck will be a 70's-80's resto-mod, as i only see more problems with more electronics and less mechanical bits in these things. I test drove the '15 and its worse than ever with all the sensor crap thats going to "get dirty" or break... no thanks Ford. Im done until you start building real, tough trucks for truck guys again. Enough of the manicured metro family wagon novelty platinum edition electro-gizmo BS.

Shouldn't the throttle body be covered under the emission warranty?

On Edit: Yep, its a listed part under emission warranty.
Go get your money back and buy me a beer....

And I hope you can do all your own repairs because no shops can work on it since all wiring is custom, and nobody else can figure out what is the correct part to order.

Ive worked on stock, modified, custom,.......I usually figure it out
Rust, and looking for body parts and interior parts is why I don't like older vehicles for a daily driver.
