So I got the 4r100 out
hey guys so I got the transmission out on my 2001 f250 7.3. The hardest part was getting out from under the truck. I had to wiggle it out from the rear passenger tire. Question is does anybody have any advice on how to get it back under their ? I mean their has to be an easier way? Iam afraid to jack the truck up cause I had to take that transmission range sensor and the truck is in neutral now. I was thinking like roller boards or something ?
Thanks yall 😊

It's not in nuetral, it isn't in anything. Park and neutral are in the transmission. When the trans is out it can't be in anything, regardless if the transmission range sensor is still plugged into the harness or not.

This might sound dumb but with the transmission range sensor out I would still be able to apply the brake to stop the truck if it did roll right ?

Ohh okay gotcha. Do you have any suggestions for getting the trans back under it ? Do you think jacking up the rear end to slide it under would be advisable ? Iam just don't want to do something and see the truck go rolling down my driveway lol

Yes, your brakes work without the transmission in the truck. No boost unless the engine is running, but they work.

The transmission range sensor has three functions. It keeps the engine from cranking in anything except park or neutral, it turns on the backup lights in reverse, and it tells the computer where you have moved the shift lever so it knows how to control the transmission. It has NOTHING to do with putting the trans in gear, nor anything at all to do with the brakes. It can't keep the truck from moving.
