I have a 79 302 motor in my 73 f100. the carburetor is just crap and has caused too many problems for me. so a friend of mine picked up a Holley 2245 which were originally installed on dodge trucks. So my questions is can this new carb successfully be installed on my motor? the old carb is just the original 2 barrel that came with the motor. Plus I know that Holley 2300 go well on fords so I also would like to know the difference between the 2245 and 2300. any info helps!
Why not just rebuild the stock carb? It's probably much easier in the long run. So just rebuild the stock carb and kiss those problems goodbye.
I don't know much about the difference between the two Holley's you are inquiring about, or if the 2245 would even fit, but I do know that if you swap to a Holley you have to add a fuel pressure regulator because the stock pressure is incorrect for the Holley.
Yeah ya see I've considered that too but the thing is in the past 4 years there has been 3 carb rebuilds and it's just junk. it has problems like the automatic choke doesn't even work anymore. plus I already have the rebuild kit and the carb. maybe there's a adaptor plate somewhere out there?? Not sure. Jus trying to get info
Ah didn't know you had tried the rebuild so many times. While I have no direct knowledge, I agree that you could probably find an adapter plate somewhere.
