Been surfing the forum as research for buying an old F-series truck, and figured as much as I've been here I might as well join up
Long story short, tomorrow I'll be bringing home my straight six, three on the tree, 2wd, blue 1977 F150
I've got some maintenance issues to work on, but it's the closest thing to a 'one-owner' truck I've found-- he bought it in 1978 with 12K miles; it now has just under 150k. Runs great, looks pretty clean for it's age...
It needs tires, so I've been trying to decide if I want to stick with the 235/75R15 or go to a 31x10.5... leaning toward the 235's as they are less expensive and money needs to be spent elsewhere (various maintenance items).
Anyway, looking forward to hanging out with y'all~
Welcome to FTE, remember to join up with your state chapter. Great way to get a lead on parts, JY locations and who is your possible neighbor that is into Ford trucks also.
Congrats and welcome Monahan. That sounds like a sweet starter base for a project. I'd recommend that being your truck is a 2wd strait six that you stick with the 235's. Too me the 31's are just a little too big on a 2wd. Plus that big six will have to work a little harder to turn those 31's. I know they're not really that much bigger than the 235's, but you'd be surprised how much difference they'll make. Also don't forget to post some pics. when you can. We just love our truck **** here on FTE.
My old rusty beater does not need to be on here...it is rusty and ok maybe not a beater, but it needs work. Far way less then CC's truck, that thing rocks! I have to many pic of awesome rigs.
I came close to the one owner thing, but in the opposite way. Bought it from a guy 8 months after he had purchased it from the original owner. He had only put a couple of hundred miles on it before getting laid off and needing the money.
Now it sits in my garage only 3 miles from where its original dealership had been located.
