Hello, Newbie here! I just bought a 2015 F250 SD standard cab gas burner. It has the tow package but no brake controller. From what I have read if I put in the OEM controller I need to have the dash display reflashed in order for it to work. Now, if I use and aftermarket unit like Tekonsha would I still need to have the dash display reflashed or is it a stand alone unit?
Thanks, Alan
Thanks guys. I think I will go ahead and get the factory unit. I thought it was odd the contoller didn't come with the tow package. My truck is an XL though so that may be why.
You can do the install yourself to save some money.
Cig lighter and the opposite aux input on the center stack. Remove the covers. One 8mm bolt each side. Remove them.
Then the center stack is just pressed on like your door trim. Just work you way around it till you get if off. The TBC wiring is then revealed to plug it in.
Depends on your trailer (unless they have made changes since 2007). My factory system won't work with our boat trailer (elec/hyd) yet aftermarket will. Apparently they only work on electric brakes, so that could factor into your decision.
