2006 factory brake controller

Does anyone know who the actually manufactures the factory brake controller for FORD? The controller that I use in my truck now is a TEKONSHA PRODIGY and works geat. Would just like to know if the FORD controller is as good?

The Ford controller will work better, and as far as I know the Ford unit is made by Tekonsha as well.

Your Prodigy will work better than the one from the factory. The trailer guy who installed my prodigy said there are alot of problems with the factory controllers. I am on my third truck with a prodigy controller and I have had great luck with the prodigy. I looked into geting the factory controller when I bought my 05. My truck didn't come with controller. The dealer said it would be around $700.00 to put one in. I paid $160.00 for the prodigy installled.

The factory unit blows the prodigy away.

TEKONSHA PRODIGY worked well in my old pickup. 05 came with the factory install.

Much better, unreal the difference in towing! Slow speed, no jerking, smoth stopping!

I kept the prodigy just in case Fords did not perform, I'll keep my Ford controller!

My vote is Ford Factory!

The integrated controller is the way to go.

I've pulled with a lot of trucks and the factory unit is the very best I've ever used.

As long as you don't have one of the early 05's. They don't work well on all trailers. They give alot of error messages and don't put the brakes on when needed.

My 05 was built on 9/4/04 it works fine!! That's the main one I pull with. My 06 is just as good!!

I'll have to side with those praising the Ford factory brake controller -- totally pleased pulling our 15,000 lbs 5th wheel!

yup same here.. i have had a boat load of the JERK MASTER type of non intergrated brake controllers. The integrated systems tend to work much better, but having the factory system tied into and working with the abs system, should a panic stop be required the driver will let out a BIG sigh of relief!.. and since it is an integrated unit, i set mine for 9.0 power, and stop as usual. I RARELY notice the 12-20 thousand extra pounds behind me, when stopping. One of the few smart thngs ford actually did. kinda attempts to make up for the turbo issues..(not) We have 3 f350`s here, and this is my daily driver, the only one that actually runs correctly..

Im glad you did not thave to go through the problem with Ford to try to get them working properly in the begining. Do a search and you will see alot of posts from people with the same problem that I described. I have an 06 now and I put a Prodigy in it not the Factory controler and I am happy with it.

The controller on my 05 worked fine but then started to give error messages and work periodically. Problem was traced to a leaking trailer bearing that was putting grease on the brake. Repaired bearing and now working fine.

Have been towing for over 20 years and factory controller is best I have had, including Prodigy.

I had the Prodigy on my '92 F250...worked great. Was the best trailer brake system I ever had......until I bought the new 2005 F250 with the factory brake controller....now, that's the best!
