Just bought a Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX Navigation/DVD headunit to install in the dash of my 2010 E-350 but the new headunit requires reverse gear signal input and vehicle speed input.
Anyone know which leads I can tap into for these? Where would I find them? Thank you very much in advance!
I couldn't wait. Went out to check it out. Found harness and specified wires almost immediately. I will tap into them tomorrow and we shall see .... I'll let you all know what I find or fry tomorrow.
Does hooking up the speed input mean you can't set a destination while the vehicle's moving? I think some also won't display video while the vehicle's moving... not that you'd watch a movie while driving.

If it does, it will be disconnected immediately. There is also a parking brake interlock wire which disables the DVD player unless the parking brake is set. That is already in the plans to be disabled/bypassed.
I have the same Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX in my 04 e350 and my 05 expedition (so nice, bought it twice) and didnt even mess around with the speed input. I suppose if its easily accessible why not?? However, being that this is a carplay unit, i have no use for the pioneer navigation. Always use apple maps which works great with carplay. Dont bother messing around with the app radio either. Just not worth it imo.. Awesome head unit!!
Did you buy it from crutchfield? If so, they are extremely helpful with these sort of questions.
