Just what commands the door ajar light to turn on/off when the doors are opened/closed?
Also curious as to what controls the automatic locking of the doors when vehicle starts to move forward.
Occasionally my door ajar light will not turn off when the driver's door is closed and similarly the locks will not automatically lock when the vehicle is moving forward.
There has to be some switch either in the door jam or in the door latching system to determine the condition of the door.
There is a switch in each door. There is a module that controls the locks when you put in drive. Depending on year model depends on module name I believe.
the door ajar switch is on the door latch. spray some wd or pb blaster down into the door latch and open/close the door around 15 times. this cleans the crud out of the switch.
no idea on auto door locks, my truck does not have them. and i would probably disable it if it did, i hate that feature on the new trucks at work.
