......................... JW does not stand behind his transmissions................................ He'd repair it alright, it would be the same as what I paid him for it................................
I have no experience or affiliation with either AT re-builder, but in all fairness here is what JW says their warranty is:
EFFECTIVE JULY 1ST, 2018 2 YEAR LIMITED MILEAGE WARRANTY
With that statement one should not expect lifetime unlimited mileage warranty.

I guess you didn't read my post! When I bought mine he had life time warranty just like BTS. Plus BTS says he lowered his warranty also. But I also had my trans down to him more then once. So please don't put words into my mouth.
God bless,
I don't read the forum every day, nor do I catch every post when I do read, but as a fairly regular visitor, I'll have to admit that I wasn't quite clear what the upshot of your saga was with JW, and I do recall reading your post.
What I remember most about your post was your statement that you didn't want to identify the transmission builder you were having an issue with. I remember guessing that it was JW based on your location, but I don't remember ever learning what the final outcome in your case was.
I'm not sure why we, as customers, feel the need to "protect" the reputations of popular service providers, when we feel wronged. I make a point to say "we", because I too have withheld names to protect the guilty, for whatever reason (and I mean that genuinely... I'm really not sure of the reason). An aspect of human nature I guess.
Some folks have had good luck with JW transmissions. And other's have reported incidents that are understandably concerning. I still can't forget the story about an FTE member ordering what JW described as a "Ford factory" oil to air transmission cooler from JW, only to receive a Dorman transmission cooler. When the FTE member called JW about it, the member reported JW said something to the effect of "Who do you think makes the Ford transmission cooler?". For some reason, that incident was disturbing, on a number of levels. Maybe because the company who manufactured the OEM coolers (Long Manuacturing, a division of Dana... definitely not Dorman) was already well known, it was hard to imagine why JW would try and snow a customer into believing otherwise. Any type of moral turpitude over a small thing suddenly casts doubt on larger things. What else could be misrepresented amidst all the mysteries in an automatic transmission?
So when your thread appeared, I wanted to know the all details, but I don't recall ever getting the full picture. Perhaps I missed a few posts, because your most recent post on this thread is the clearest I've heard you speak on your dissatisfaction with JW. It appears that things didn't work out after all, and I'm sorry to hear that, based on how much money people surrender in the hopes of coming away with a truly indestructible 4R100, as what forum folklore and vendor advertising suggests.
From 20 years of reading about pilgrimages to the promised lands of Lead Hill or Holtville, I'd still recommend that anyone in need of having their 4R100 rebuilt first scour their local shops for a competent transmission builder who is willing to work with them.

After my experience with JW, many timed since I live 2 hours away, I would never do it again. I wish, to this day, that I had gone to Oceanside Transmission down the street. I would have had at LEAST an equivalent trans, if not better, by a competent builder close to home. All I can say is, NEVER again if I ever have an auto again.
Chet, sorry to hear you had a similar experience to mine. I had no idea.
Y2KW57, I gave it my all with that guy. Thanks for dropping in. I did recap what happen in that old thread, or maybe I made a new one, but for me never again with that guy. I've been in business all my life till retirement and I would of never done what he did after his promises. Anyway, lets leave it there. Some have had good experiences, I take it they have not had any problems from the start. I can tell you, I never raced or even beat on it anymore then to test it out maybe. I towed four times a year, not as heavy as I am now with my new toy hauler.. And in less then 50 thousands miles it came a part. My factory one lasted almost three times that.
Byron, I new there was others, some contacted me about it, I forgot you were one. Guys, god bless, I did go further then I was going to. Sorry guys.
After watching the video from "The Transmission Bench" , I would have no problem doing it myself.

No problem taking a day to do a 1hr. job.
