well, not exactly how I envisioned getting a substitute ride while my '14 super duty was in the shop, but I guess I'll take it:
after getting the truck towed to the dealership, my salesman approached (I've known him quite a while & have bought my last 3 (now 4) trucks from him & started being really apologetic.
seems that the only people that can authorize rental cars for warranty work are the service department..I they're no longer open on weekends.
because it's a warranty issue, the sales department can't simply let me have a vehicle (even a used one) without approval of service.
now, my truck and I are at the dealership & I'm starting to get pissed..long story short (a little late for that, isn't it?), I'm out of my 2014, into a 2015 with no additional money or length of contract, the dealership is going to pay through the nose to swap all my accessories to my new truck (including painting the fender flares to match the truck) & I got home about 6.

so much for a quick day of it, huh?
Don't understand - it sounds like they're giving you a brand new truck? Seems like a nice deal for you if that is correct.
So there wasn't anyone there who had the authority to issue you a LOANER car but there was someone there that had the authority to give you brand new truck even up and swallow the cost of swapping over add-ons......?
My wife and young son were out with another couple and their daughter in their 3 day old Dodge minvan that broke down (electrical issue) right in front of a Ford dealer about 10 miles from home on a Friday evening. The sales manager of the Ford dealership listened to their story of how the tow back to the Dodge dealer wouldn't show for 2 to 3 hours, then he took action. With nothing more than a photo copy of a driver's license he gave them the keys to a new Taurus and said to get the little kids home and don't worry about getting the car back till Monday. They left the minivan and keys and he took care of the tow when the truck showed up, they took the Taurus back on Saturday. And their next car was a Ford bought from that dealership.
I'm not unhappy with the trade, just =think it would have been easier & a hell of a lot less paperwork if they'd just given me a demo car or something & fixed the fuel pump (that was already replaced once, 3 weeks ago).
and I STILL hate dealing with car dealerships
Wow, if I bought a 2014 and the dealer was going to fix it but then said hey here is a 2015 I don't think I would care much less. I have a love for my vehicles but damn that is one year newer and as long as you know there is no known issues with the newer can't really hurt can it?
Yesterday was the last day of claiming sales for Dec. If they were one sale away, or close, they'll be able to absorb quite a bit. Plus, depending on when the '14 was purchased the rebates may well have balanced out. Sometimes when we say "A new car for no more money" we mean it. Congrats on the new rig!
