1981 Ford Custom F250 4x4 351W. Where do I relocate the pasitive wire for the electric choke? Old alt ran form a + bolt to carb. On youtube only one mention of "splice your electric choke into white stater wire".
Thank You. Dave. I will have to find a 12v hot on ignition for my choke. No one ever mentions electric choke inthe 3G upgrade where an electric choke is run on the second positive of the old 1G or 2G alternator. I will figure it out. Thanks.
You want power while running rather than 'key on'.
It has been mentioned in a few threads I participated in.
The stator wire only has power when the alternator is actually turning.
Stock Ford (Motorcraft) choke coils are calibrated to open on this reduced voltage.
If you have a 12V choke you could use stator power to trigger a relay.

Yes, like was said the original Ford choke ran on the stator voltage which is not 12v. Now if you have a aftermarket carb, that probably would be 12v.
When they are 12v you can hook them through a oil pressure switch. That way the choke never warms up until the engine is running.
