The Steering on my '67 Bump Was Hacked

I was driving home at 0210 Sunday morning just after last call. My '67 made a quick right turn into a tree. Now I have a hairlip bumper and 30 days of community service in orange jumpsuits.
The deputy who let me out last night suggested that my steering had been hacked. I have bone-stock steering.
Can any of you aces give me suggestions on how to prevent hackers from getting in to my steering box and help me to avoid a repeat?

What gave way? Tie-rod, drag link, tie-rod end?
why the orange jump suit for tagging a tree? Was there a bit of fermentation ingested?

Did you do all your security updates prior to this?

Sorry to hear of your woes John. If you check out your rag joint and see that it was cut I suggest doing something like Baja's hood lock. Did you dance with someone's girlfriend or something?

How are cab mounts? Likely sagging? Thus it will tear up a rag joint in no time and it will look like someone just ripped it apart.

Luckily the only one I had that actually broke..........was when I was backing into the driveway. No harm, no foul.
