Halogen is a big improvement. Wiring the lights thru a relay so you get full voltage to the lights will make a big difference.

LED Headlights

I went LED on my 48f1. You can buy new 7" round LED bulbs, but they are very expensive. I bought some 7" round adapters for H4 Halogen lamps (about $30), ant then bought LED lamps intended to replace H4 bulbs.

I bought 40 Watt Cob LED lamps ($80 for a pair), and they are plenty bright and have good color light. Beware of lower wattage LED Headlamps as they may not be that bright. Let me know if you want more information or pictures.

I have a set of Hella Halogen lights on mine. They have the optional park light in the lens. Much more efficient than the old ones. They are a bit of a giveaway as they don't have that old style curved glass face with the glass lines through it. Rather, they have a clear flat face. Apart from that they are a standard fit up like any other round sealed beam.

I think that the only parts I ever bought from LMC were these headlights (the halogens/custom headlight on the upper right of the page) and the relay/harness from them. In a word, they are great.

I'm just going with stock lamps on mine, but with relays up front for full voltage. I'll let you know how it goes, but I've heard it makes a big difference.
