How many quarts will it require for a transmission filter/fluid change on an 08 6.4L? The owners manual says 17.5 but it has been my experience that they never hold what the manual says when just removing the pan and filter.

You will probably get about 6-9 quarts by dropping the pan.

Yup, I have a tranny with external filter and my notes show I used 9 quarts when I drained, refilled and replaced filter.
