Yes Performance makes a great product .. The problem with the rockauto reman distributors is it's hit and miss whether you get a 10L or 13L slot to work with .. If you can weld you can make your own slot .. However the full length bronze oil impregnated bushing that DUI puts in their distributors is hard to beat and worth the investment IMHO ..

So if I buy this one with the bronze bushing I can modify it later ? I thought they already recurve the distributor. Rock auto sell a 1975 reman for 65 bucks after core. Who recurves them ?

Yes DUI (performance) recurves the distributor based on the specs you give them and then sends it to you recurved ..

The 75 Rockauto distributor may or may not have the 10L or 13L slot which you'll need to finish the recurve .. You won't know until they send it .. That option has the least likelihood of getting what you want ..

I called performance. and the guy was not very helpful . he just ran of a bunch of part numbers with a accent i couldn't hear.

so if put stiffer springs and weld the slots smaller on the plates that should work.
i think i will try it myself after all that how we learn.

if i weld 1/4 of the slot will be enough you think ? thanks

These are your slot widths .. I would start with 10L = .410"

8L slot = 16 degrees centrifugal advance = .358"
9L slot = 18 degrees centrifugal advance = .384"
10L slot = 20 degrees centrifugal advance=.410"
11L slot = 22 degrees centrifugal advance = .436"
12L slot = 24 degrees centrifugal advance = .462"
13L slot = 26 degrees centrifugal advance = .488"
14L slot = 28 degrees centrifugal advance = .514"

you'll use one of these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mr...Reviews=Newest

If your F350 is doing some towing your going to want the timing to be all in by 3200 to 3500 rpms ..

Distributor recurve

Nelson Specialties 800-494-7532 has new and restored OEM distributors or can recurve/rebuild yours. Did mine 20,000 miles ago. made the truck run like new
He has original blueprints and specs as well. Very helpful staff!

Thanks. I may give them a call. I have the engine back together and I just finished soldering a new plug for the distributor and temp censer . I am almost ready to fire it up. I have a couple old ones I will use just to start it and check for leaks. I like the idea of doing the recurve myself but winter is coming! Lol

I went through the routine and learned a lot. If you want to pay someone everybody mentioned Faron Rhoads for recurving, who has a Sun distributor machine. I was a little too impatient to wait. Involving shipping both ways. He takes your engine info and specs, gearing, weight, intended application etc and dials them right in.
