I have searched the site for answers to this , but cannot find any that apply. When the horn button on the steering wheel is pressed, the horn does not work. I have swapped relays with the Fuel Pump. Since the part numbers are the same and the truck starts, i could hear the pump run, so I assumed the relay is good. Horn still does work. I don't hear the relay closing, so I think there is s problem in the steering wheel button. Looking for direction. My service manual is pretty vague.
Im guessing you jumped the horn off the battery straight at it's terminal?
Or did you put power down through the legs of the relay?
Listen to hear if the relay is clicking when you press the steering wheel.
If it doesnt click I'd say the issue is between the wheel and relay.
If it does click, the issue is probably between the relay and horn.
Check for continuity with a multimeter when you have the chance.

No clicks at the relay. Which legs of the relay plug can I apply power to? That would allow me to at least check the circuit between the relay and the horn. I pulled the center horn button from the steering wheel. The connections are different than anything I have seen before. Anyway, what is the next step in the troubleshooting process?
So leg #86 will be the contact you meter to the wheel, and #87 will be the contact for the horn.
Cool! Thanks! So I can use my VOM to check for power from the horn button #86, and I can supply power to #87 and check the circuit for the horn. Thanks. Any information about the horn button on the steering wheel?
I dont remember if they had an option for airbag that far back.
If you have a JY or LKQ near you i'd drop in and snag another if it doesnt work.
I believe that one has two leads that can be metered as well. Been awhile since i've had mine off. Same concept. Meter for continuity and try to depress switch and see if it closes the circuit.

No airbag. Airbags came in '94. I will try to post a photo when I get home. In the past, I have seen a lead going to a horn ring under the button assy. This has nothing like that. It has two copper clad contact points on either side and a peg that slides into a slot at the top.
