Ok so me and my dad replaced my drum brakes on the back of my 94 150 and it gave us nothing but hell.. once we finally got them in place the drums didnt want to fit on so after many swear words and flying tools my dad slammed them on using his legs.
All was fine and good but recently im hearing an ungodly screatching noise comming from the back of my truck. I cant help but think its something in my brakes back there.
So.i guess my question is had anyone else has the problem where your shoes dont wanna let your drum go on or have any of you had the same issue with an ungodly screatching comming from the back? If so was it the brakes or something else?
Also i bought my pads from Pep boys and im thinking maybe thats my issue.. i dont have much faith in their parts (and i work there) where else should i buy?
Noise started after replacing the shoes. Sounds like it's time to pull the drums and see if a spring popped off. It's possible that the parts were wrong (didn't you compare them to what you removed?) but usually it has something to do with the shoes not being adjusted correctly if the drum won't go on. Using the drum brake tools helps immensely when removing/installing the springs.
Edit: pads are for disk brakes, shoes for drum. Terminology matters.
If the drums would not fit, make sure the adjuster on the bottom was turned all the way in. If they still won't go on after that, your parking brake could be stuck due to frozen cables not allowing the parking brake to retract. Also verify correct parts as mentioned before. Good luck.

We adjusted them so they were as closed as possible. Yes i did compare and they were the same aside from the amount of shoe.
Thanks ill have to look to see if a spring came loose

Thanks we adjusted it all the way in and it still wasnt working. The parking brake wasnt frozen so that isnt it ill have to try again with different parts.

They were the same but different? What "amount of shoe" are you referring to?
