LOVE IT. Whistle gets a little annoying on a long drive (over two hours), but it's not unbearable. It lights off almost immediately, seems to offer a more even power band although that can also be attributed to the tunes. Either way, it's a huge improvement over the stock 38 which I literally blew the center cartridge in half. It also matches the 238 sticks quite nicely, EGT's are back under control and the plumes of smoke are back to being a light gray haze at wide open in the hot tunes.
Super. Thanks for the reply. I am debating on whether to do a 38r... Is there something that whistles less but has about the same performance or would an S&B eliminate most of the whistle?
Mark has Clay's billet wheel on his and it was substantially quieter. I can't remember if he has the 6637 like I do, but a sealed airbox should help cut a little more noise out of it as well. The turbo being right there basically inches behind the stereo and a poorly insulated dash doesn't help much either, lol.
Since the 38R is on sale for $1350, DO IT! Then source a spare IDM and mod it as well, the gains for a rig with bigger sticks are quite noticeable. Also, prepare for transmission slippage... 253k on mine and if I floor it, it'll downshift and just rev to the moon. It has lived a hard life with me
