Chip for 7.3

Hi...my names austin. i drive a 02 250 4dr 4x4, 7.3, auto tranny wit 3.73's. I have 114k on it. im interested in putting a "safe" chip/programmer in it. Im not lookin for something thats goen to blow up my engine. i just want something thatl improve milage n give me power when i need to get down. Its had a chip n it, but the prevoius owner took it out and i had to have the comp reflashed back to stock settings. Ive heard dp-tuning or sct are some of the best ones out there? Is there anything that will be worth putting n my 21 grand investment? Ive heard that chips can be bad for diesels n didnt know wheather its a good idea puttin a chip in it or not? any suggestions?

There are many "safe" tunes available for it as the 7.3 tuning research is pretty mature. Any good SCT tuner can handle it, as well as Diablo, Bully Dog, etc. It boils down to which features are most important to you. DP is pretty well known for their 7.3 tunes. SCT is just a name for the hardware, the important thing is who is doing the tune for it.

Stop by the 7.3 fourm and do some reading. I think you will find out real quick which chip we use on our 7.3. It will be the one Matt just told you about.

Good luck, and look forward to see you in the 7.3 fourm.

Check out the diesel forums. They have a lot of good information there. You will probably find they recommend a DP or Tony Wildman. I'm saving up my money for one of those. The guys who know stay away from Bully Dog, Edge and Diablo.
