how to tell if it has a chip
Hello.
i just bought 2001 Excursion 7,3 diesel and i suspect that is has a chip installed. i`m having some issues with the transmission and i think it has something to do with that. The transmission have hard shifts and the TC doesn`t lock when i let off the accelerator going downhills.
The dealer i bought it from doesn`t know if it has a chip in it and previous owner probebly won`t tell them because of the issues with the transmission.
And it seems to have more power in it then the other 7,3 diesel i had.
Is there any easy way to tell if it has a chip in it? it`s probably used one of those chips that looks like an OBD scanner so i can`t see if it has one.

I have an 01 7.3 ex and mine stock feels like a ton of dirt in the back when I take off. When I change It to 60e its a night and day difference. You may be having transmission issues. That year had the diode in it. I am not sure if that's causing your problems or what else it may be. Someone will be along here shortly to give you a better answer. Good luck
