I am doing the EGR and Oil Cooler upgrade and once getting the intake off discovered that the front injector connectors on each side of the engine are broken - cheap aged plastic. The broken ones are on the engine/injector side, not the harness side, and are the the front ones on each side.
I have ordered two (2) new plugs made by alliant power, part #AP0040 (many thanks to the prior posts who identified this particualr part btw) and they should arrive today to repair/replace the 2 broken ones.
My question regarding the plugs is whether the valve covers on each side have to be removed to install/fix the broken connectors or is it possible to replace the broken ones without removing the valve covers. None of the prior posts seem to go into how to install them; and the install instructions from Alliant only goes to how to wire the plug, not how to remove - reinstall once repaired.
Yeah, your gonna need to remove the valve covers to fix it. They come out the top, so you'll also need a socket or tool to push it back through the hole towards the valves to release the connector. That is, unless its broken enough to not need a tool to push it inwards.
