IIRC the plugs on the injectors are the same as the IPR . Splice one in & see if it runs . Usually the IPR plug looks burned , but the insulation deteriorates from diesel spilled on it .The IPR harness can be completely removed by unplugging the main harness plug on the side of the fuel bowl . Unplug the rest of the wires ( 3) and work on it on the bench .
Sadly this truck will not run.It starts runs and dies.we were able to get it to start and drive last night but it ran like crap, losing horsepower.at idle it kind of surges and feels like a miss. This morning it's crank crank crank fires up and dies
Got the truck to run temporarily.took a wire and jumped out the GPR,battery positive to one of the small terminals. How and why it is working is beyond me, someone explain to me how to figure out and fix this . The truck still runs poorly it bogs down, no throttle response, sluggish and surges at idle.first things first I need it to run
Is the IPR tin nut tight ? Have you swapped in a Motocraft or Intl. CPS ? Is the HPOP reservoir full within an inch of the top ?
When my CPS failed, the truck would crank with white smoke out the tail pipe. When my IPR orings were swapped out, I didn't tighten the tin nut enough, it vibrated loose and I experienced loss of power and loping / stalling with no surging.
Damn. At this point, I'd go over everything mentioned here.
CPS-International or Ford
IPR-nut tight and plugged in
ICP sensor working. Hell, you can unplug it and it should run in default mode.
Check every single ground wire.
HPOP reservoir full
It has fuel pressure, so we know that's good.
It may be time to hook it up to a scanner and see what's actually going on with all the sensors, ICP, IPR%, PW.
Also, I'll ask a Cody question. Have you checked the oil?
It still sounds like a HP leak to me . If the fuel is not properly atomized I won't burn . Keeping the GPR on is like having a spark plug . Get the IPR DC%. You will need a good scanner .I'll bet ICP drops as it warms up .
Where's that pesky No-Start chart when you need it? Take a deep breath and start at the top. Small things are missed when you start to get into a frenzy. Ask me how I know this.
