need grille for 62

My dad is in the process of restoring his 62 unicab pickup and is needing a grille. The original one was chrome but all we seem to be able to find are painted ones ... wondering if anyone might have one or point me in the right direction for getting one

Thanks
Christine

grille for 62

I have a very nice grill for a 62. $200, it is painted but could be chromed. I am in California so Greyhound bus ride prolly the cheapest.

I've seen a few of these trucks including mine with chrome and painted grills around here. Mine's a bit bent up but if I find another (even painted) I'll let mine go. By the way my truck is a Mercury so I'm not sure if they differ much.

There are two possible 1962 Custom Cab grilles, two possible 1962 Standard Cab grilles. The serial number is the last 6 digits of the VIN

1961 Custom Cab grille and early (before serial number 210,001) 1962 Custom Cab grille is the same and it's chromed steel. Has either FORD or MERCURY within the center of the grille.

Late (from serial number 210,001) 1962 Custom Cab grille has a star in the center, grille is anodized aluminum. The FORD or Mercury letters are located on the upper grille panel.

1963 Ford/Mercury grille is shown at upper right.

I just bought a '62 front grill which is CHROMED STEEL - I was expecting an aluminum piece based on this post and was surprised when i arrived at the sellers house.

Is this an unusual piece?
