Alright guys I got a 1990 idi and ran when pulled bought off a friend. Don't need it now and want to sale. I realize this is a one wire system. But how can i make it run out side of sitting. I'm new to diesels. More of a 460 guy but willing to try.
Just like this:
You have a battery rigged up to the starter, 1 wire from the positive of the battery to the FSS solenoid(forward most terminal on top of the IP).
Fuel line from the can, to the input of the mechanical low pressure fuel pump. Run another line for your return(you can probably hook in right at the rear of the engine at the metal pipe there).
Then, give it some ether and start it. Remember, not too much ether, but unless you want to rig up the glow plugs you A, won't get it started and B, won't damage the engine because of it.
