Any one else experince this .The van is a 94 club wagon 351w e4od when the trans down shifts and you go to speed up it gets a slight stutter then runs fine .I have a e4od behind a PSD and it doesnt do this.Have a new filter and fluid just havnt got it in the truck yet wondering if its the brain and it just needs a reset, fluid smeels fine and its at the right level trans works fine the rest off the time also that fuel pump sure is loud ,used to PSD's so not to familiar with this fuel system.BTW just joined you guys and have found tons off great stuff I go to forddesiel.com all the time thats a great site to thanks in advance.
I say its just getting old.
Doesn’t seem like a serious problem, but it would probably take a rebuild to fix.
Just take it easy, and it should be fine for a while.
Thanks madman I'd wish I could say its old but shes only got 58k on her Brought it from some guy that used it to drive his grandkids up to there summer home .Had a lummina van that did the same thing and when you would pull the brain fuse it would go away for a while till the computor patterned your driving habits and it would return.Your right its not that bad just annoying and the fact my PSD doesnt do it leads me to belive that it might just be vehicle specific. Also does anyone no how to tell if you have steel guts or aluminum guts in there E4od by some serial # some post said they changed them in 94.
Vanner, I had a similar problem with my 94 F150. I found a thread here that suggested draining the fluid from the tranny then removing the pan, and re-tourqeing the valve body bolts. This fixed my shuddering problem. Only took about an hour or so. Hope this helps.
I have a '96 F-150 302 and I think I may have the E4od trans. Mine is doing this when upshifting if I'm slowly accelerating, is this the same problem?? Also, how can I tell what trans. I have?
There's a blue tag inside the driver's door frame, or sometimes on the driver's door itself.
On this tag there is a "TRANS" column. On my 94 F150 under the word trans is either an "E" or a "U." If there is an "E" you have an E4OD. If it has a "U" the truck has a 4R70W. I believe it will be the same for you. If it is different then post the code and I am sure someone here will be able to tell you. Hope this helps.
