F600 VIN Decoded
Hello everyone, I am interested in a F600 for parts but would like VIN Decoded. F60AR514403
174 M F602 181 N F7
200000 160 3800 71
This is how the letters and numbers space out on VIN. I am am curious about trans. If its original or exchange. and What engine size. There is a CLARK 285 V10 5 speed trans in it. I have a 70 F600 with NP435 Can I swap trans with this one. My engine is a 330HD. Thank for any info I can get. Bill

I asked a moderator to move your thread to the Large Truck forum. Most members of this forum have pickups, won't know that much (if anything) about 500 and larger series trucks.
F60 = F600.
A = 330 2V M/D FT engine.
R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant.
514403 = 1964, assembled March 1964.
174" Wheelbase.
M = Wimbledon White.

181: 1 = Light Gray Crush Vinyl & Light Gray Rib Vinyl / 81 = 81A Standard Cab.
N = New Process 435 4 Speed or Spicer/Dana model 5652 5 Speed Direct.
F7 = Eaton model 13802 Two Speed Rear Axle / 5.83/8.11 / 15,000 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.
20,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.
160 net HP @ 3,800 RPM
71 = Los Angeles (SoCal) Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

Thank you NumberDummy, The trans that is in truck has a label. The ID tag is Clark Model 285 V10

So it looks like I can swap trans with my 70 F600. The Clark looks to be in good shape. Also a 5 speed couldn't hurt? Engine runs great, just doesn't go far on 20 gallons of fuel. I'm in Orange County, CA. Gas is over $4.00 a gallon.
