Can one tell the flash currently in the ficm and pcm with IDS? I assume so and would guess you can re-flash with IDS as well?
I do not have a scangauge and would rather not buy one just to determine the flash currently in the truck.
If you know someone with one of the old Snap-On red bricks you
can pull it that way. In fact that is where that image came from.
If you do use one you look under the generic ODB menu.
If you know some one with an sct or edge tuner they can pull it up for you

scangauge won't tell you the strategy. IDS might. I know an SCT tuner will tell you the strategy. Not sure about AE
When I used Super Duty Service's IDS on Misky 6.0's truck, it wouldn't tell me what the strategy was. All it would tell me was that it needed an update. I searched through it to find it too.

It's a cryptic way to find it, but the PCM strategy is there. It would hard to explain how to get to the info page.
The FICM and TCM strategies are easier to pull up.
I do not know anyone with a SCT Tuner nor do I know anyone with a Snap On red brick.
2 strikes.
You could ask in your local chapter forum and see is someone does
and is willing to meet up with you and scan it for you.
Then there is the local Ford dealer, But you will have to fork over some
cash or beer it the guy does it off duty.
In the end your going to need one of the tools to read it.
Don't think your going to get anything from this but maybe see if
the parts person at one of the large auto parts stores will let you
play with there reader and see if for some reason it does show this.
I was just looking with Google to see if any of the low end tools will show strategy.
Not much luck. I did find this but I don't think it's going to help. >>> http://www.scantoolhelp.com
Don't have time to read this one but might be worth reading from the quick look I gave it. Motorcraft Technical Resource
I was curious what my strategy was for my early build '06 (born on date of May 18 2005) as it has never been reflashed.
Was surprised to see a zero in the strategy.
" VXCF0XX "
I'm wondering if I should have it reflashed?
Then wondering what happens to my existing SCT tune files?
Would I need to buy new files because of a new flash update?
On the 05, try the Atlas 40 with the SRL tune from Gearhead. As I mentioned before, VXBC9NH plays well with the Atlas 40 ask Magnolia Tom. We found this to be true on his wife's 04 Excursion. If for some reason, it doesn't get better VXBC6 is your friend. Ask Misky6.0 Gearhead, innovative, and PHP can write you back to VXAM7N2. That was the original 2003 strategy that yielded the best power and fuel economy for the 2003 MY. The best thing about this strategy is that it uses the EBPS. The later strategies are inferred.
I can attest to this!!
My wife's ex had crappy mileage before the atlas 40. I'm talking 14 ish on highway drives. After the change, we took a 4 hr drive that average almost 20!! Everyday combined driving now is in the 16 range when before it was probably in the 12s
