Since this forum has been such a help in the past I thought I would seek out some suggestions/advice once again. The brake lights on my 77 F100 stopped working. I still have park lights and signals but the brake lights are a no go. I have replaced the switch already but that didn't seem to fix the problem. Fuses are all ok. Dash lights stopped working around the same time also, not sure the two are related but they could be. Any ideas of where to start looking would be helpful.
If so, and if the switch is working, the next place that wire goes is to the turn signal/hazard light switch in the steering column; from there, wires go back to the brake lights. If your turn signals are working, the wiring between there and the lights must be good, as must be the grounds at the back, so it's down to the power supply to the brake light switch, the brake light switch itself, or the turn signal/hazard light switch (or wiring in between them).
Is there voltage to the switch?
Yes hook the 2 wires together to see if brake lights work.
Same bulb filament used for signals/brake lights so that part is ok.
Dash lights - could be resistor in headlight switch burned out.
