How can I identify the wire that triggers the starter on the steering column? I want to find the wire, in the cab, that is used to trigger the starter selonoid on the fender near the batt. Does this wire get +12v when I turn the key to start the motor?
I couldn't tell you anymore but when I installed a remote starter on my past 93 the instructions told you exactly which colors were for what. Don't remember the brand that I used either but on their website they had a downloadable instruction manual with that information. That would be a round about way of figuring it out. I will try to find it myself.
I believe when you turn the key to "start" it completes a 12v cicuit with the fender mounted solenoid which then completes another 12v circuit with the starter mounted solenoid. The first wire is a pretty thin one.

It is the red wire with a light blue stripe.

The wire comes out of the Ignition switch down on top of the column near the floor.
Yes it gets battery voltage when you turn the key to start the motor.
