have a wireing question

Hey guys new to the forum not sure if this is the right section for this question. I have a 01 f250 that I had since I got my license. I like the look and idea of the parking lights going on when the door opens. I'd like to do this to my truck I'll have the door panels off to change the window motor and speakers this weekend and like to knock this out to. My question is can I just tap the parking lights into the door jamb switch or do I have to wire it into a relay. If anyone has done this please let me know how you done it and lead me in the right direction. Thanks in advance

I would use a relay. Instead of getting inside the door, I would just hook a relay across one of the domelights inside the truck.
