Door ajar light
Does anyone know where the door sensors are located that turn the interior lights on and off when the doors are opened? It does not do it everytime, but I have had to remove the relay from the fuse panel to get the lights to go out. The door ajar light on the dash will stay lit for long periods, occasionally. Any help will be appreciated.

This subject is in the GAQ's section. The switch is in the door latch itself. A hefty spray of WD40 will fix your problem. I went as far as first srpaying it with a contact cleaner then WD40.

This most definitely is a Ford Electrical PROBLEM.
Lights staying on, Door lights not going off, Door ajar.
To bad Ford couldn't shut the door on this one. Full size Truck for $ 40k, they should of used GOLD connectors
My 2002 350 SD had the same problem,

Thanks for your help. I went back and looked at the FAQ's and was amazed at all of the issues with the lights. I also talked to a co-worker that has a '96 F-150 and he has the same problem. I told him what I had found out and he is going to try it on his. I still have a problem with the relay. I am not sure if the relay is going bad or the socket in the panel is messed up. I bought the truck used and it came with a very complete history, but nothing about the relay. The problem is the lights will not come on at all sometimes. I opened up the panel and wiggled the relay and they came on and then went out again. I can hear the relay contacts opening and closing when I wiggle it. It seems to be OK if I pull the relay back out of the panel a little and not have it completely bottomed out. I think I will stop at Ford and get a new relay before I end up dropping out the panel. Thanks again.
