1995 f150 5.0 mud drag
Hi guys! I have a 1995 ford f150 5.0. I'm entering the mud drags at my fair this year. Should I run my truck in 4x4 high will I have enough power to spin them or should I run it in low range? What things should I do to have a better chance. And I have 32.1150s and a 4 inch lift. I will be in the stock v8 class should I do OK against some other stock v8s?

Sounds like fun! What type of mud is it? What kind of tread is on your 33's like all terrains or mud terrains?
If you have all-terrains then I suggest 4H to keep the tire speed up which will keep the treads clear. If you have an automatic then DON'T leave it in OD or Drive because with enough wheelspin it will shift into third gear and just bog down the truck at that point. Start in manual first, shift to manual second if needed to keep from redlining the motor. Pedal to the floor or just off the floor enough to keep from redlining. Well actually you'll get a feel for it as you go, you sometimes only need like 3-4K RPM's but it depends. I suggest you find a mudhole and a buddy with a truck (to pull you out) and go practice a bit first.

What do you mean? T-case hi range is just direct drive/no gear reduction. The 1356's weak link is the oil pump.

Yeah low range I can understand, the planetaries probably can't take the heat from sustained high speed running and seize up.
