I am in the process of doing a c6 to 4 speed swap, and i am in a dillema since i cant find a block plate/ transmission to bellhousing seperator plate.
I have a 300 6 but i believe that one for a 302 or 351 will work fine as long as its for a manual transmission.
I went ahead and ordered a universal ford small block block plate from summit racing yesterday, i am hoping it will fit even if i have to make minor changes, all this block plate really does is keep debris out of the housing and protects the inner parts right? Also i know it spaces the starter off the flywheel
Im sorry i dont really understand what all that means?
Post 3: Geez Louise, I did all the work, all you have to do is read it.
C5AZ-7007-A is the correct Ford part number for the engine rear cover plate for a 240/300 I-6 with a M/T
I typed the 3 possible ID numbers stamped on the rear plate, listed the applications and found 43 NOS (New Old Stock), listing the sources/locations/phone numbers.
This plate fits between the engine and the bell housing, it needs to be there so the starter drive will line up properly with the flywheel teeth.
Ok thanks alot for the imfo much appreciated, so i guess a 302/351 plate will 100% not work. Ok.
Sorry i didnt see where u listed that those shops had the part the first time i read it.
Just wondering, how did u figure out that those shops had the plates?
I'm having computer problems, the damn thing may work fine for hours, or it can lock any time, a PITA!
After I typed the part numbers, I went to see who had them, the damn thing locked up, so I had to boot it.
Then when I got back on, I edited in the 3 sources for the C5AZ-7007-A plate that I found on PV (PartsVoice.com) .. an obsolete parts search website.
I also looked on the Ford dealer parts locator: ZERO .. and rearcounter.com. This obsolete parts search website listed Carpenter only, while PV listed Haven, Don's and Carpenter.

Thanks for your hard and talented work. I needed this information and was able the complete detail here!!!!!
Hello, I know this is an old thread but I hope it's ok to post here since I'm looking for the exact same part. I tried calling Don's trucks, Ford havens and Dennis carpenter without success. Dennis carpenter company claimed to have an inventory of 24 in stock but when I placed the order it turned out the inventory was wrong and it was unavailable. I can't find a used or nos part anywhere. Truck is the same 4.9l The truck needs the new part because the person we bought it from claimed to have replaced the clutch but didn't put back the spacer plate. We found that out when we had to replace the transmission few months later. It's been 2 months at the auto shop because we can't find the part. Any help to locate one new or used in good condition would be very much appreciated!
Here's a place in NY that has a 351w for parts. They may sell you the plate. 300 six, 302 and 351w are all the same. Except don't get on from a car, stick with a truck or van.
Thank you for looking into this. I see I didn't mention that it's a manual transmission, if that makes a difference. A couple of places I called did say that the 300 6 is the same engine as those and I even looked at a multi fit plate but my mechanic said that it has to be this specific one and other ones won't fit. I'll try calling the places you mentioned that should have the 300 6. So far I haven't had much luck with any salvage place that was willing to sell just the plate.
