So now that heat of summer is here, I have been running the AC and noticed a problem. The carpet under the floor mat on the passenger side is wet. It is not from the rain but only after I run the AC. There is a good amount of water in the carpet. The condensation also runs out from under the truck like normal, but I am wanting to see if anyone else has this problem. Does anyone know a fix to keep me from spending money at the dealer? 2011 F150 XLT.
If you live in an area where Dirt Dobbers are, you are very likely a victim of a Mud dauber(Dirt Dobber) clogging the condensation drain with their nesting material. Find the drain and insert a short length of clothes hanger or a stiff length or wire to break up the dirt nest.
There may not be anyone that has had to find the drain. It will be on the engine side of the firewall and the best way to find it is run the AC while you're under the truck. It should be be fairly visible that way.
It's going to be either just a nipple coming through the base of the firewall, usually directly below the evaporator core, or a nipple with an elbow directed downwards.
It's easy to see if you actually get under your truck and take a look.
Just ran about 8-10 inches of coat hanger into it, nothing come out but a drop or 2 of water. On the 5.0 passenger side on your back up behind the engine you'll see a button type of hole. It's very tough to get straight on into the hole, the engine is right there.
