2000 F150 4.6 4x4 130k miles - SES light is on the dash. P1151 is the code I'm getting. I don't notice anything unusual with the truck. Idles, runs fine. I just bought it and I put about 500 miles on it so far. I'm getting about 14 mpg mostly highway driving. From what I've read, it could be fuel pressure hi/low, O2 sensor, leaking injector, vacuum leak, MAF sensor. I replaced the fuel filter, but the light came back. I can't find any vacuum leaks, don't smell any fuel leaks. What should I try next?
Code 1151 indicates the driver side Ox sensor is not switching.
You would need to use a Scanner to look at the live Data and compare the reading of both banks Ox sensors.
Also the Long Term Fuel Trim tables for both banks.
It could be the sensor or an air leak on that bank only.
Since this is only one bank, anything common like fuel filter, MAF etc. is not the cause of a one bank fault.
You need to look into the data to get more of a lead.
Like is bank 2 LTFT out of limits that set the code?
Good luck.
I had it scanned at Autozone. Would they be able to look at the live data? Or is that beyond their tech help? Both exhaust manifolds were replaced right before I bought the truck. The drivers side had an exhaust leak, but it was fixed. Thanks for your input.
Would they be able to?
Technically yes but who does it must understand what they are looking at and be permitted to do so by their company policy.
For instance in CA, they are not permitted to do this by state law.
Usually a good tech who knows does not work for a parts store unless there are circumstances that drive it.
I just gave you a heads up that diagnostics can be done but by someone who knows.
Good luck.
