Vin # info

Hey, so I have been trying to find info on our new project and can't seem to find too much. I was hoping someone here could help me. We wanted to see how rare it was before we decide which route to take with it.
VIN # F25AC872190
DSO # 420322

Anyone able to help out?? We were told it was a 65 but appears to be a 66? Thanks!!

Welcome to FTE

None of these trucks (1961/66) are considered "rare."

F25 = F250 2WD

A = 240 1V I-6.

C = Oakville Ontario Canada Truck Assembly Plant.

872190 = 1966, assembled June 1966.

42 = Fargo ND Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

0322 = Domestic Special Order number, truck special ordered by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."

6,699 Flareside & 58,489 Styleside 1966 F250 2WD pickups were assembled.

Thank you! That's def very helpful. We have the frame for it as well just no engine, bed, hood, missing a fender and grill. We were debating ripping the cab off the frame and putting it on something else but don't want to if its a limited thing.

Oh, and I don't know if there is a way to find out about the fact it's a 4-door not 2-door which was even more less common.

You failed to mention that your truck is a Crew Cab. I wondered how in the hell your truck could be ordered from Fargo ND then assembled in Canada, because...

Thru December 1967, all Ford and Mercury trucks assembled in Canada were only sold new in Canada, with one exception: Crew Cabs.

This is a mid 1965 Ford factory assembled Crew Cab. The early 1965 Crews were modified from Regular Cabs by Crown Coach, have exposed rear door hinges, different shaped rear door window frames.

There are no production figures available as all (1965/72) Crew Cabs were converted from Regular Cabs (Warranty Plate BODY code: 81 = F Series Conventional Cab).

There are no specific to Crew Cab parts listed in the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog, as all were Domestic Special Orders.

In order to get specific Crew Cab parts, dealers had to contact FoMoCo with the 6 digit DSO code. FoMoCo would look up the DSO number, give the dealer the part numbers.

1965/66's may have used the 1957/60 Styleside beds, called the "wrong" beds by enthusuasts, as the bed lines don't match the cab lines.

Ford cut these beds off just in front of the wheel opening, then welded the front bed panel on. They look horribly amateurish, like a shade tree mechanic would have done.

Some 1965/66 Crew Cabs also used the 1964/66 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD Styleside beds.

Most 1965/66 Crew Cabs, all 1967/79 Crew Cabs were assembled at the Oakville Ontario Canada truck plant.

That is one really cool truck, the patina is perfect and you've got both back doors.

This is an early 1965 Crew Cab that was probably assembled by Crown Coach.

Notice it has exposed rear door hinges and that the rear door window frames are a different shape than the FoMoCo assembled Crew Cab pictured in post 5.

The drivers side and passenger floor at the toe has some holes that need replacing. Otherwise it's solid.

This was a junkyard find that my fiancé just couldn't pass by. It has been sitting in the same spot since 1989.
