I was driving my truck and it seemed like someone had shut the fuel off to truck ! i had it towed to the house and was doing research and watch a video on checking the ficm with a volt meter..when i touch the positive post from meter the ficm started smoking and sizzzling...but back tothe truck when i try to start it i have no pre warm up sounds coming from the truck and the truck just turns over strong ..no start...i was going to replace the ficm but didnt want to spend the money to fry another if that is not my problem..also the # 5 fuse under the hood keeps blowing..any help would be great..thanks guys

You need to have it scanned for codes, you can have pending codes and no check engine light. Also what were you touching on the FICM that made it smoke?

Smoke and sizzle is only good for hamburgers and steaks. Sounds like a, literally, fried FICM. You need to get a scan tool (ScanGauge2, etc) and check the voltages.

Fuse #5 is for the FICM or injector drive module in ford owners manual speak.

Sounds like your voltmeter probe touched the FICM case while you were using it. Replace the fuse and get an OBD monitor to figure out what's going on with the no start.

Here's some great info on what to look for in a monitor....

I'd have to agree with Money-Pit. If you did bridge the pin to the case, it will most likely keep popping the fuse. Give it a shot though. If you need us to, we can bring your FICM in for testing and let you know what we see. We have two 6.0L trucks in our shop that we use for testing. Let us know if we can help!
