As I mentioned in my build thread, while doing the compression test this weekend, we noticed a hitting/thudding sound when the starter was engaged. We didn't notice anything afterwards when the truck was running again.
Below is a link to a video of the sound. Any ideas?
We thought it could be something with the flexplate and John checked with a couple of people and that was their suggestion. I've tried to inspect it but I cannot get the flexplate to turn to see more of the teeth through the opening. John suggested I have my wife bump the starter while I watch and see what I see. Any other ideas?
Well I tried having my wife quickly bumping the starter but I could not see any missing teeth, although it was sort of a roulette wheel as to where it stopped and I couldn't see anything like a gap while it was spinning.
Another thing I didn't mention - the starter seems to "stick" at times. You try to start the truck and then turn the key off and the starter keeps going. You have to whack the solenoid to get it to cut off.
