So any other ideas for me to check before I tear the stupid pump off? The radiator is not blocked with debris. I assume that since the oil temp and the coolant temp both rise to high levels the sender is OK. All hoses, belts, tensioner, idlers etc are new less than 10,000 miles ago.
Just be sure to check the front cover for cavitation inside the water pump housing section while you have the pump out. Other than that, not much left but swapping the sensors (water and oil are identical), and they seem to move consistently together.
Well it was a bad water pump. Just like someone here said early on the impeller cracked and spun on the pump shaft. Thanks a lot for the quality part NAPA. I put a new OEM pump in today, hopefully it lasts.
Thanks for wrapping this up Maxine. A lot of time a thread will fade away with no resolution to help the next person.
Did you get a shop to change the pump? If so what's the price of that these days? I ask because I put one on my sons 2006 today as was wondering what to charge him .
I just had the same issue creep up on me while towing my TT and pulling a grade. All had been normal until I really got into it to maintain speed. I never heard my fan kick on, and to think of it, I have never heard it. My Temp was near 220 and I should have heard it well at that. So I need to check that, and after reading all this the T-Stat and water pump are also going to be at the top of my list.
Thanks Maxine for not letting this thread die and letting us all know what the real issue was.

When you go to replace your fan clutch, don't go to Ford for your part. Get one from Autozone. It will be the exact same unit (torqflo reman) for less money and a better warranty.
Ford will attempt to tell you that it is a new unit, but the last two I've gotten from them were remans and were stored improperly causing them to leak when installed. The Autozone ones likely didn't sit around.
Thanks Thor. I also just saw about converting to a 7.3 fan clutch somewhere. Is that something thats worth doing? Im assuming that its mainly for alot of heavy hauling and probably hotter climates than I am in.
