Speedo cable lock removal

I found a dash out of a 67 big F-600 in an old UHAUL flat bed (with original 359, no doubt). But as it turns out, UHAUL isn't into getting screwed out of milage (199700 on the odometer), so they put some kind of lock on the speedo cable nut that I couldnt get off. By the time I got around to getting that (lost my keys, had to get lock cylinders), the yard was about to close, so I only had about 5 min to look at it, so does anyone have any ideas as to how to get the thing off when I go back?

Would the guys at the bone yard care if you just cut the cable, say with dikes or hacksaw blade? The you could mess around with the lock at home.

I'm sure they wouldn't , but that cable lookes pretty tough. I'll try that when I go back. If all else fails, I will chop off the cable and get a heat wrench on it. Any more ideas??
