New here, and need help. I just recently bought a 2000 F-350 XL Flatbed Dually, 7.3L Powerstroke Turbo, 6 speed manual transmission. Ok, so technicals are out of the way. I am really picking this truck apart and fixing everything I can find to fix so I can use as a dependable welding truck.
I ran into some wiring issues, more than originally told about.
The wiring under the hood, drivers side, under the windshield has a group of wires that are cut and not connected to anything.
I am just looking for some help tracing the wiring so that I can fix whatever they were trying to do before I saved the truck. Any help is much appreciated.
Cut wires, driver's side, near the windshield, under the hood
Those are like that from factory. The other side is right behind the fuse box, terminated in the same way. They are customer access wires for accessories....
Good to know. More questions on wiring to come. The person I bought the truck from messed up all kinds of wiring.
About to trace these. They said that the battery was draining even when you turned off the ignition. He was tired of messing with it so this is what I am left with trying to figure out if it is an ignition switch problem, glow plug issue, or ?
Have to get the wires reconnected first.
The joys of buying a vehicle from a try and see if it works, kind of person.
When working on wiring on these trucks, remove the key from the Ignition. The PCM's are "fragile" in a sense. Almost impossible to find new and difficult to locate used or remanned.
Thank you. I plan on replacing with new, if needed.
The reason for the mess under the dash is because they said that when they turned off the ignition the truck was draining the battery. Apparently they decided to rip out all the wires and cut them. A huge mess that makes no sense. They messed it up, now my job to fix it.
